Office of the State Building Inspector
The Office of the State Building Inspector establishes and administers the: Connecticut State Building Code, Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, and Safety Code for Boilers and Hot Water Heaters.

Building and Fire Code Adoption Process
The State Building Inspector, State Fire Marshal and the Codes and Standards Committee announced on December 29, 2016 intent to adopt the 2018 State Building and Fire Safety Codes based on the 2015 editions of the International Code Council (ICC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) documents.

National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS), Fire Data Reports and Incident Counts
The Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) is responsible for maintaining Connecticut's statistics for the U.S. Fire Administration’s (USFA) database for the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). The NFIRS data provides fire information at the local, state and national levels, and assists fire service agencies and public officials in identifying fire-related problems and trends.

Examining Board for Crane Operators
The Examining Board for Crane Operators, established pursuant to C.G.S. 29-222 assists the Commissioner with specifying qualifications for applicants for licensure, requirements for examinations, procedures for issuance and renewal of licenses and certificates of registration, and examination and application fees. The Board administers and established passing grades for licensure examinations.
