  (HARTFORD)— Holiday season is here and the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) State Parks Division celebrates with special tours of two of its historic buildings: Gillette Castle in East Haddam and Osborne Homestead Museum in Derby.

• 1/13/2021 Emerald Ash Borer No Longer Regulated by the USDA

  New Haven, CT - The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announce that the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis) will no longer be regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).

• 5/4/2021 DEEP Announces Recipients of Inaugural Round of Grants for Aquatic Invasive Species Control on Lakes, Ponds and Rivers

  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced the recipients of the inaugural round of grant funding through the Aquatic Invasive Species Grant Program, with a total of $360,000 going to 21 projects to reduce impacts of aquatic invasive species on inland waters in Connecticut.

• 9/10/2021 DEEP Accepting Proposals for Recreational Trails Grants - Applications Due Nov 1

  (HARTFORD)—The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is now accepting proposals for Connecticut’s Recreational Trails Program, which provides funding for projects that add to or enhance the state’s 2,000 miles of multi-use trails and bike paths that connect cities to the outdoors, provide opportunities for green commuting and crisscross some of the state's most picturesque terrain.

• 6/10/2021 DEEP Re-imposes Alcohol Ban for 6 Recreation Areas

  (HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has re-imposed temporary alcohol bans for six state recreation areas. These bans are in effect immediately and until August 25, 2021, at the following locations:

  (HARTFORD)— The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has issued a request for proposals seeking a program operator(s) to administer the state’s Weatherization Barriers Remediation Program, the purpose of which is to address health and safety hazards that prevent the completion of residential weatherization and energy efficiency measures.

  (HARTFORD)—During the fall season, black bears increase their food intake to add fat reserves needed to help them survive winter. The quest for more food makes bears very active and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is reminding residents of several best practices to reduce the likelihood of an encounter with a bear.

  (HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has enacted a temporary alcohol ban for the state’s Billings Lake Boat Launch area in North Stonington. This ban is in effect immediately and for the next 90 days.
