Governor Malloy Accepts Invitation to Participate in World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has accepted an invitation to participate in the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The trip, which is being paid for by the UConn Foundation in an effort to help the Governor promote Connecticut as an emerging leader in Bioscience, will take place between January 25th and 29th.

Gov. Malloy: Removing Red Tape will Empower Local School Districts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a plan to reduce the burden of red tape and state mandates faced by school districts across the state. Based on the needs of school districts, the Governor’s proposed changes to state policies will empower districts by eliminating barriers to improving student achievement. In particular, today’s announcement will allow local school districts greater flexibility to hire and develop teachers, a process that is currently impeded by certification mandates, and free districts from excessive and redundant data reporting.

Monday: Gov. Malloy Holds News Conference on Voter Rights Legislation, Speaks at Martin Luther King, Jr. Event
On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will host a news conference to announce legislation he intends to introduce this session that will preserve voting rights, including expanding voter access to registration and polls. He will be joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, Chairman of the Board of Common Cause Dr. Bilal Sekou and a group of state lawmakers and advocates.

Thursday: Gov. Malloy Meets with Young Lawyers of the CT Bar Association
On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will be the featured guest at an event hosted by the Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association for a conversation on the Governor’s first year in office and his experiences being a lawyer in public life. In addition, members of the Governor’s legal staff will discuss their roles in the administration.
