Gov. Malloy Announces Plans to Appoint Scott Jackson as Commissioner of Revenue Services, Kurt Westby as Commissioner of Labor
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he will appoint Scott Jackson, who is currently the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL), to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services (DRS). With Jackson’s departure from CTDOL, Governor Malloy will appoint the agency’s Deputy Commissioner, Kurt Westby, to serve as its Commissioner.

Gov. Malloy: Military Personnel and Their Families Receive Free Admission to Over 50 Connecticut Museums This Summer
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that over 50 museums in Connecticut are offering free admission this summer to active duty members of the military and their families as part of the ninth annual Blue Star Museums Program. Available between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the program is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Blue Star Families and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Gov. Malloy Announces Grants for Six Communities That Will Help Put Blighted Properties Back Into Productive Use
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that six municipalities and organizations in Connecticut, including Ansonia, Naugatuck, New Milford, Thompson, the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, and the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation, are being awarded a total of $1 million in state grants that will help the entities in their efforts to remediate and redevelop clusters of blighted properties – also known as “brownfields” – and put them back into productive use.

Gov. Malloy Reminds Residents of Resources Available to Help the Most Vulnerable Beat the Heat
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging Connecticut residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions during periods of excessive heat and humidity during the summer season, including this upcoming weekend as a heat wave is forecast to move into the state on Friday, June 29, and last several days. Those who are looking for a place to get out of the heat can locate a cooling center, which are available in towns and cities across the state, by calling 2-1-1.

Gov. Malloy Signs Landmark Bills on Climate Change Resiliency and Renewable Energy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today held a bill signing ceremony in Hartford to commemorate the final passage of two pieces of legislation he introduced that will further Connecticut’s role as a national leader in environmental protection and put the state on a more sustainable path by decreasing statewide greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the usage of renewable energy.

Gov. Malloy: Hartford Line Ridership Tops 10,000 in First Full Week of Regular Operations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today that ridership on the new CTrail Hartford Line passenger rail service exceeded 10,719 customers during its first full week of regular operations from Monday, June 18 through Sunday, June 24, during which full-fare tickets were required. The service launched on Saturday, June 16, and was free for all riders on the first two days of operation.

Governor Malloy today announced that five projects in towns and cities across Connecticut will receive approximately $8.5 million in funding under the second phase of the 2017 Responsible Growth and Transit Oriented Development Grants – a competitive grant program that supports transit-oriented development and responsible growth in the state and is targeted at boosting economic activity and creating jobs.

Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of the Hartford Line, Providing Frequent Rail Service in the Central Connecticut Corridor
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined dozens of federal, state, and local officials, and Connecticut commuters to officially launch the CTrail Hartford Line for service. The passenger rail line, which has multiple stations in Central Connecticut along the I-91 corridor connecting New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield, is the first passenger rail line to open for service in Connecticut since 1990.
