  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for $7.5 million in grants that will be awarded to help clean up former industrial sites in communities throughout the state, revitalizing these properties to put them back into productive use. Made available through the Connecticut Brownfield Remediation program, a total of $6.5 million will be earmarked for remediation projects and $1 million will be used for assessment projects.

Malloy today announced the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the University of Connecticut (UConn), and the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) will take part in a new Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute (FHE MII), a virtual institute consisting of more than 160 companies, universities, and non-profits.   Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC, the largest mattress manufacturing company in the country, plans to relocate their Massachusetts operations to Windsor Locks, resulting in approximately 200 new or relocated jobs into Connecticut.
