Gov. Malloy Commends Senate Passage of Minimum Wage Increase
Governor Dannel P. Malloy commended the passage of legislation in the Connecticut State Senate today that increases the minimum wage in the state by 75 cents per hour over a two-year period to a total of nine dollars per hour.

Gov. Malloy: Conn. Selected to Participate in National Initiative to Improve Social and Emotional Well-Being of Children in Foster Care
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Joette Katz today announced that Connecticut is among seven states selected by the National Governors Association (NGA) Center for Best Practices, National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and Casey Family Programs to participate in the Three Branch Institute on Child Social and Emotional Well-Being to improve the welfare of children in foster care throughout the United States.

Gov. Malloy Names Gary Collins Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities

Malloy today announced that he has selected Gary Collins of Portland to serve as chairperson of the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO), the state agency responsible for addressing discrimination through civil and human rights law enforcement and working to establish equal opportunity and justice for all persons within the state.

Gov. Malloy: NewOak Capital Establishes New Operations in Danbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, and state and local officials, today announced that NewOak Capital, a financial services firm based in New York City, will establish NewOak Credit Services, LLC in Danbury. The expansion is expected to create up to 100 new jobs within three years.

Gov. Malloy on Final Passage of Homeowner's Protection Bill
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement upon final passage today of House Bill 6355 – An Act Concerning Homeowner Protection Rights. The bill, introduced by Governor Malloy in January, requires all parties participating in the Foreclosure Mediation Program to mediate in good faith and establishes a reporting requirement to track the actions and behavior of the parties during this process. It also creates a fast track foreclosure process to let the banks take ownership and sell properties when a homeowner has abandoned the property.
