Court Blocks Fraudulent Business from Operating in Connecticut Following Action by Attorney General Tong
A Connecticut Superior Court judge has barred Sports Media Advertising, a Texas-based company, from doing business in Connecticut until the court finds that it has complied with a civil investigative demand issued in connection with an investigation by the Office of the Attorney General.

Attorney General Tong Announces $2 Million Multistate Settlement with CafePress Over 2019 Data Breach
Attorney General William Tong today announced that a coalition of seven states has reached a $2 million settlement with CafePress, Inc. stemming from a 2019 data breach of its user database that compromised the personal information of approximately 22 million consumers, including more than 236,000 Connecticut residents.

Attorney General Tong Leads Coalition Filing 3rd Complaint in Ongoing Antitrust Price-Fixing Investigation Into Generic Drug Industry
Attorney General William Tong led a coalition of 51 states and territories today in filing the third lawsuit stemming from the ongoing antitrust investigation into a widespread conspiracy by generic drug manufacturers to artificially inflate and manipulate prices, reduce competition, and unreasonably restrain trade for generic drugs sold across the United States.

Connecticut Announces Joint State-Federal COVID-19 Fraud Task Force
Attorney General William Tong, U.S. Attorney John Durham, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Chief State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo announced formation of a joint federal-state task force combatting COVID-19 related fraud in Connecticut. The task force will investigate and prosecute a wide range of misconduct related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including price gouging, healthcare and government program fraud, consumer and small business scams, lending scams, charities fraud, and cyber fraud. Violators may be subject to civil fines and penalties and/or state or federal criminal prosecution.

Attorney General William Tong today joined a multistate effort urging the Trump Administration to immediately withdraw its new reporting structure that prohibits hospitals from reporting COVID-19 data to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and instead creates a system controlled solely by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
