Gov. Malloy Calls Legislature Into Special Session Tuesday to Tackle Budgetary, Transportation Matters, Long-Term Structural Changes
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed a proclamation calling the Connecticut General Assembly to convene in a special session at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, in order to enact legislation that will improve Connecticut's business climate, amend the state constitution to ensure that transportation dollars are only spent for those purposes, and ensures that state spending aligns with revenues as well as making long-term structural changes.

Gov. Malloy Announces Infrastructure Improvements With Upgrades to I-84 in West Hartford and Route 15 in New Haven
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that funding has been approved to advance the upgrade of two major infrastructure projects in need of improvement: I-84 in West Hartford and Route 15 between New Haven and Woodbridge. The funds were approved as part of the Governor's ongoing "Let's Go CT!" transportation plan, which will make unprecedented investments to upgrade Connecticut's transportation system. The Governor aims to revitalize the state's aging infrastructure to make it best-in-class, attract business, and grow jobs.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dr. Raul Pino to Serve as Acting Commissioner of Public Health
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Dr. Raul Pino, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Public Health (DPH), will serve as Acting Commissioner beginning Monday, December 21, while the Governor conducts a search for a permanent Commissioner to replace Dr. Jewel Mullen. As was announced last month, Dr. Mullen has taken a new position with the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

Malloy released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's today decision to not take up a challenge to a 2013 law passed in Highland Park, Illinois that bans the sale, purchase, or possession of semi-automatic weapons that can hold more than ten rounds in a single ammunition clip or magazine.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and Congressman Jim Himes (D-4) today announced $10 million in federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funds for the construction of Barnum Station, a new commuter rail station that would serve Metro-North on the east side of Bridgeport.

Gov. Malloy: State’s Economy Will Benefit Dramatically from Widening Connecticut’s Interstate Highways
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a new analysis conducted by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) shows significant economic benefits to the state's economy by widening Connecticut's interstate highways. By adding travel lanes in both directions on I-95 border-to-border from Greenwich to North Stonington, as well as on I-84 between Waterbury and Danbury, Connecticut will see economic benefits of nearly $40 billion - about four times the cost of both projects.
