Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Highlights "Second Chance Society" Initiative in Willimantic
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the Windham Recovery Community Center in Willimantic to tour the facility, speak with staff and individuals coping with addiction, and discuss the impact that his "Second Chance Society" initiatives will have on residents' lives. His proposals and criminal justice reforms - supported by Democrats and Republicans in red and blue states nationwide - are designed to drive down the state's historically low crime rates even further.

Gov. Malloy: Record Ridership on New Haven Line Demonstrates the Need for Continued Commitment in Our Transportation System
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that ridership on the New Haven commuter rail line reached record highs in 2014, with 39.6 million passenger trips - a 1.6 percent increase over 2013 - according to numbers released today by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, parent of Metro-North, the operator of the New Haven Line.

Gov. Malloy and Local Officials Commemorate Start of I-84 Waterbury Widening Project
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker and other local officials for a groundbreaking ceremony in Waterbury to mark the start of the widening of Interstate 84 in the city between the areas of Washington Street and Pierpont Road. The project, which begins work this week, will see the creation of an additional, third lane on the highway in each direction.

Gov. Malloy Announces Donation of Land to Create New State Park Scenic Reserve in Bloomfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has acquired approximately 40-acres of land in Bloomfield that will be preserved for public open space as the Auerfarm State Park Scenic Reserve.

Tuesday: Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Attend Dedication of Reintegration Center
On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will participate in the dedication ceremony of the Cybulski Community Reintegration Center in Enfield. The correctional facility is being re-commissioned - as part of the Governor's Second Chance Society initiatives - to become a Reintegration Center that prepares inmates for successful community re-entry.

Gov. Malloy Announces New Competitive Funding Round to Support the Development of Affordable Housing Throughout the State
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that another round of funding under the state's Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program has opened, creating additional opportunities for affordable housing development in the state. Applications for this round - the seventh since Governor Malloy took office in 2011 - are due to the Connecticut Department of Housing by June 10, 2015.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dennis Murphy to Serve as Acting Labor Commissioner
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Dennis Murphy, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL), will serve in the position of Acting Commissioner beginning Friday, January 1, 2016, while the Governor conducts a search for a permanent Commissioner. As was announced in the fall, Sharon M. Palmer, who has served as the agency's Commissioner since August 2012, is retiring at the end of this year.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Monday for the Three-Year Anniversary of the Tragedy at Sandy Hook
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff on Monday, December 14, 2015, from sunrise to sunset in honor of the 20 children and six adults who were killed three years ago at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

Gov. Malloy Announces New Company Relocating to Connecticut, Adding Over 100 Jobs in Stamford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, an importer and marketer of high-quality wine and spirit brands from around the world, plans to relocate its headquarters from White Plains, New York to Stamford, Connecticut. The relocation will deliver more than 100 new or relocated jobs moving into the state.
