Gov. Malloy: Frontier Communications Expands Corporate Footprint in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Stamford-based Frontier Communications, which has 15,000 employees nationwide, has chosen Connecticut for the location of its captive insurance subsidiary. The new subsidiary, Frontier Services Corporation, is also headquartered in Stamford and recently obtained its license from the Connecticut Insurance Department.

Gov. Malloy: Federal Assistance Approved for Residents and Businesses Impacted by Shelton Fire
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the approval of his request for a Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster declaration to mitigate the impact of the fire in Shelton that destroyed personal property and businesses on January 6, 2014. Residents and business owners affected by the fire can now apply for low-interest SBA disaster loans.

Gov. Malloy: Investment Will Create Jobs for Connecticut Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide a loan to Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) Inc. for an expansion project at the company’s South Windsor facility. The funding will create or retain 65 jobs for Connecticut residents over the next two years.

Gov. Malloy Announces Investments in Commercial Districts to Attract Small Businesses and Grow Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that 13 municipalities across Connecticut are being awarded $5 million in grants to develop or improve town commercial districts in an effort to attract small businesses, grow jobs, and improve pedestrian access and livability in town centers. The grants are part of the state’s Main Street Investment Fund, which is administered through the state Department of Housing.

Gov. Malloy Announces Continued Efforts to Increase Housing Opportunities and End Chronic Homelessness Among Veterans

Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is making 50 additional Rental Assistance Program (RAP) vouchers available now to veterans who are currently receiving assistance under the federal HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program and are ready to transition out of supportive housing but still need rental assistance.

Gov. Malloy: Advanced Manufacturing Programs to Launch at Community Colleges in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation today announced that a consortium of all 12 community colleges in Connecticut and Charter Oak State College have been successfully awarded a $15 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to launch the Connecticut Advanced Manufacturing Initiative (CAMI) – a project that builds upon the success of the state’s nationally-recognized Advanced Manufacturing Centers that are currently implemented at four state community colleges and expands manufacturing education to every community college in Connecticut.

Malloy, joined by employees and executives from United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and state and federal lawmakers, held a bill signing ceremony at the Pratt & Whitney hangar in East Hartford to commemorate the final passage of the Connecticut Aerospace Reinvestment Act, which strengthens UTC’s commitment to the State of Connecticut, impacting more than 75,000 jobs in the state.
