Gov. Malloy: Funding for Road Resurfacing Will Repave State Primary Roads Following a Harsh Winter Season
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Deputy Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) Commissioner Anna M. Barry, today highlighted $11.9 million on the Bond Commission’s upcoming agenda to fund the state’s annual maintenance and road resurfacing program, which – combined with $57 million in previously approved funding – will repave and repair 264 miles of primary roads around the state following an especially harsh 2013-14 winter season that included record-breaking cold temperatures and 12 snow and ice storms.

Gov. Malloy Applauds Final Passage of Legislation That Will Help Veterans Find Employment
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today hailed the final passage of legislation (HB 5299) on Wednesday that will address barriers to employment for military families by requiring that state licensing authorities take into account military training and experience, where appropriate, as a substitute for additional training as well as allowing spouses to gain streamlined occupational certifications.

Gov. Malloy Applauds House Passage of Bill Eliminating Nearly 1,000 Pages of State Regulations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded the Connecticut House of Representatives for adopting legislation he introduced that will eliminate nearly a thousand pages of state regulations that have been identified as obsolete, duplicative, excessively burdensome, or otherwise ineffective or unnecessary, in a major effort to make Connecticut’s regulations more streamlined, readable and user-friendly for citizens, especially small businesses.

Gov. Malloy Announces Economic Assistance Grants Awarded to Small Towns Throughout Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a series of grants under the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), which will be awarded to 27 towns throughout Connecticut for the purposes of funding a variety of economic development, community conservation and quality-of-life projects.

Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation to Bolster Connecticut's Aerospace Industry
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has signed legislation (Public Act 14-2) that he introduced to support an agreement the state reached in February with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) under which the company will invest up to $500 million to upgrade and expand its aerospace research and development and manufacturing facilities over the next five years.

Gov. Malloy, DMV Commissioner Announce New Appointment Centers and Upgrades as Part of Agency Modernization Efforts

Malloy today announced that the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now accepting appointments for learner's permit tests in the Old Saybrook office as part of the department's major computer upgrade so that businesses and customers can do more transactions online without coming into a DMV office.
