Gov. Malloy Receives Report Showing Crime in Connecticut Continuing Downward Trend so Far This Year
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that a report released by the state’s criminal justice policy and planning office and underscored by data released this morning from the FBI indicates continued, positive trends in the administration’s efforts to reduce crime in Connecticut. Since the Governor took office in 2011, statistics show that the overall crime in the state has declined 19 percent, including a 19 percent decline in violent crimes.

Gov. Malloy Announces Aer Lingus Commits to Bradley International Airport for at Least Four More Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Aer Lingus service at Bradley International Airport will continue for at least four more years under a new agreement made with the state, committing the airline to continue its transatlantic service at the airport through September 2022.

Gov. Malloy: Hartford Line Exceeds 69,000 Passenger Rides in First Six Weeks of Operation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that the recently launched CTrail Hartford Line saw a total of 69,067 passenger trips during its first six weeks of operation through July 31, 2018 – not including the opening weekend of June 16 and 17 when service was free.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut National Guard Aircraft en Route to Tennessee in Preparation of Anticipated Hurricane Relief Efforts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that ten Connecticut National Guard soldiers are anticipated to arrive in Tennessee this afternoon aboard UH-60 Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook helicopters to support those in need in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Florence, which is anticipated to hit the southeast United States later this week. The crew and equipment will stage in the area to help cut down on the response time required to provide assistance.

Gov. Malloy, State and Local Officials Break Ground on the Future Site of Hartford’s Parkville Market
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James Redeker, developer Carlos Mouta, and other state and local officials for a ceremonial ground breaking at the future site of Parkville Market, located at 1400 Park Street in Hartford in the historic Parkville neighborhood. The 20,000-square-foot, two-story food market is expected to bring around 150 new jobs to the area.

Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Invite Residents to Attend Connecticut’s Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are inviting members of the public to attend the State of Connecticut’s 17th annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

Gov. Malloy: Advanced Placement Test Scores Increase Nearly Four Percent
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Department of Education Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell today announced that Connecticut public school students are continuing to increase their performance and participation on Advanced Placement (AP) exams, according to the 2017-18 results from the College Board. These improvements were evidenced among students from all racial/ethnic backgrounds and extend to the state’s Alliance Districts.

Gov. Malloy Releases Annual Report on Utility Cybersecurity Reviews
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the Connecticut Critical Infrastructure 2018 Annual Report, a comprehensive review the state’s electric, natural gas, and large water companies’ efforts to detect and prevent cybersecurity threats. The report stated that while Connecticut’s utilities faced more frequent and sophisticated penetration attempts in the past year, they were met with “adequate defense capabilities.”
