  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that they are recruiting lifeguards for the upcoming 2019 summer season at the eight Connecticut State Park guarded beaches.

• 12/20/2018 Connecticut State Parks Celebrates the New Year with First Day Hikes Across the State on January 1, 2019

  Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) State Parks and its partners will sponsor free, guided hikes in many state parks on New Year’s Day as part of America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative taking place in all 50 states.

• 12/17/2018 Gov Malloy Announces Open Space Grants That Will Preserve Nearly 1,200 Acres of Land in 14 Towns Across Connecticut

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $4.8 million in state grants are being awarded to support the purchase of 1,139 acres of land for 15 projects in 14 Connecticut municipalities that the state will designate to be preserved as open space.

• 12/28/2018 Gov. Malloy Announces Zero-Carbon Resource Selections

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee today announced that, under a recently adopted statute requiring the state to conduct an appraisal of nuclear power-generating facilities and solicit bids for zero-carbon electricity-generating resources, the state has selected two nuclear power bids, along with nine solar project bids – two of which are paired with energy storage – and one offshore wind project.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the launch of the state’s Passport to Parks program, a new system that supports services at the state parks system while allowing Connecticut residents who have valid state license plates to access all state parks for free, effective immediately.

• 2/13/2018 State EnCon Police Arrest Meriden Man for Illegal Hunting

  On February 12, 2018 Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police took Giovanni Carabetta, 22, of 187 Canyon Dr, Meriden, into custody at Troop I in Bethany on an arrest warrant. The warrant stems from a lengthy investigation that was started on Thanksgiving of 2017.

  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Greenways Council today announced that they are now soliciting nominations for official state greenway designations.

• 2/1/2018 DEEP and PURA Release Final Resource Assessment, Appraisal, and Determination of Millstone Report

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) today released the final Resource Assessment, Appraisal, and Determination of Millstone Report regarding the current and projected future viability of the Millstone nuclear generating facilities, the role of such facilities as well as others in meeting Connecticut’s carbon and other emission targets, and mechanisms to achieve those targets.

  On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Officers responded to Pachaug Pond in Griswold after a member of the public noticed a body on the surface of the pond.
