Gov. Malloy and Education Commissioner Wentzell Announce New Step to Reduce State Testing
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Department of Education (SDE) Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell today announced the implementation of a new step that will reduce testing time and expand learning time for more than 200,000 Connecticut children across over 800 schools. Changes to the application of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), impacting every student in grades three through eight, is as part of a broader effort to help districts spend less time testing students and more time teaching.

Gov. Malloy Proposes Reforming Alcohol Pricing to Lower Costs for Consumers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has introduced legislation that will empower businesses by modifying a 1981 state law, which mandates that retailers of alcoholic beverages sell their products at certain - and artificially high - prices. The proposal will put the authority to determine the prices of these products back into the hands of retailers and out of the hands of government.

Gov. Malloy Announces $8.7 Million for Brownfield Redevelopment in 16 Municipalities

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of Reintegration Center at the State's Correctional Facility for Women
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as part of his "Second Chance Society" initiatives to reduce recidivism and lower crime, the Connecticut Department of Correction has opened a Reintegration Center at the York Correctional Institution, the state's only correctional facility for female offenders. The York Correctional Reintegration Center becomes the third such facility in the state.

Malloy today announced that Pietro Rosa TBM, a leading manufacturer of compressor airfoils for gas turbines and complex structural components, has acquired Farmington-based New England Airfoil Products and, in addition to retaining the company's current workforce, will be creating 100 new positions over the next five years.

Gov. Malloy Announces New Haven Line Sets All-Time Ridership Record
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that ridership on the New Haven commuter rail line for 2015 surpassed 40.3 million passenger trips - up two percent from the prior year and setting an all-time record, according to newly released data from Metro-North Railroad. The New Haven Line is the busiest commuter rail line in America.
