  Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that state offices will be open today, following clean-up from the major winter storm that impacted the state yesterday. All state employees should report to work as regularly scheduled.

• 3/13/2017 Gov. Malloy Signs Civil Preparedness Emergency Ahead of Winter Storm, Activates Statewide Travel Ban Beginning at 5AM Tuesday

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed an order proclaiming a civil preparedness emergency in the State of Connecticut ahead of the major winter storm that is expected to impact the state on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. With dangerous weather conditions anticipated that will last throughout the day, the Governor has also signed an order activating a statewide travel ban that will begin at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday and remain in effect until further notice. In addition, the Governor is fully activating the state’s Emergency Operations Center starting at 5:00 a.m. He is also directing all nonessential first and second-shift state employees to not report to work on Tuesday.

Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next couple of days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017, and remaining in effect through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13.

• 3/28/2017 Gov. Malloy: Towns Along CTfastrak Route Continue to Benefit from Transit-Oriented Development as System Reaches its Second Anniversary

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as CTfastrak reaches its second anniversary, towns and cities with stations along the bus rapid transit system are continuing to benefit from the growth of transit-oriented development as multi-use projects are reinvigorating neighborhoods along its route. The bus rapid transit system launched on March 28, 2015 and provides direct service to and from Waterbury, Cheshire, Southington, Bristol, Plainville, New Britain, Newington, West Hartford, Hartford, East Hartford and Manchester with routes that take advantage of the bus-only CTfastrak roadway.

Malloy today announced that Colt’s Manufacturing Company is purchasing its West Hartford headquarters and manufacturing facility and making new investments to expand operations and grow jobs in Connecticut. The acquisition of this property is a key part of the company’s growth strategy and is part of a $23 million project by Colt that targets the retention of its current workforce of 600 employees and will lead to the creation of an additional 100 jobs at the location over the next five years.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy today announced they will convene a conference in Hartford this summer with criminal justice experts, leaders, and advocates from throughout the country to discuss the progress being made to reform criminal justice systems in the ongoing effort to reduce crime and end the cycle of mass incarceration.
