Gov. Malloy: New Distribution Center in Windsor will Create 200 Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Dollar Tree, Inc., which recently acquired a site in Windsor, will build a one-million-square-foot, $104 million distribution center and hire a minimum of 200 people within the next five years.

Gov. Malloy: Law Will Strengthen How State Protects and Conserves Open Space
Governor Dannel P. Malloy joined Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Daniel Esty, Department of Agriculture Commissioner Steven Reviczky, and environmental advocates at the Session Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington for a ceremonial bill signing for Public Act 12-152 An Act Concerning the State's Open Space Plan. This legislation strengthens Connecticut's efforts to preserve important land as open space.

Gov. Malloy: HealthBridge Tactics are "Unacceptable", Will Join Workers Today on the Picket Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman will join workers who recently began a strike against HealthBridge, a New Jersey based healthcare company. To date, hundreds of caregivers at 5 nursing homes across the state are taking part in the strike to protest what the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has deemed "unfair labor practices."

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut's Small Businesses Driving State's Recovery
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that five Connecticut small businesses are receiving assistance through the state's Small Business Express Program (EXP). The program was part of the bipartisan Jobs Bill passed during last year's jobs special session to encourage business expansion and job growth.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Recognition of Colorado Tragedy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, in response to a proclamation from President Barack Obama, has directed all U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff until sunset on July 25, 2012 honoring the victims of the tragic shooting in Colorado.

Gov. Malloy: New Law will Enhance State's Emergency Preparedness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) Deputy Commissioner William P. Shea and West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka for a ceremonial bill signing for Public Act 12-148, An Act Enhancing Emergency Preparedness and Response. The law will improve and augment the ability of the state, municipalities, and utility companies to better prepare for natural disasters and other emergencies.

Gov. Malloy: Hartford Will be Home to First State Memorial Honoring All Connecticut Veterans
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda S. Schwartz, state officials, and veterans, today announced plans to build the State of Connecticut's first memorial honoring all Connecticut veterans. The Connecticut State Veterans Memorial will be constructed in Minuteman Park across from the William A. O'Neill State Armory in Hartford and will break ground this fall.

On Monday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join governors from across the northeast at the 36th Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in Burlington, Vermont. The New England Governors’ Conference was formed in 1937 to promote economic development and policy coordination in the six New England states.

Gov. Malloy: Statewide Emergency Preparedness Exercise to Begin July 28
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a four-day statewide emergency preparedness drill designed to simulate a Category 3 hurricane will begin on July 28th and run through July 31st. Coordinated by the state's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the exercise is designed to improve communication between the state's utility companies and state and local governments in the event of an emergency or other natural disaster.
