Gov. Malloy: One Year After Irene, East Haven Continues to Rebuild
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Daniel Esty, Department of Insurance (CID) Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) Deputy Commissioner William Shea, and state and local officials, met with residents of the Cosey Beach neighborhood in East Haven to assess clean-up and recovery efforts one year after Tropical Storm Irene devastated the area.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein are warning Connecticut residents to be aware of potential scams in the coming days and weeks, especially ones in which scammers offer to help people get disaster assistance from FEMA.

At Invitation from the World Economic Forum, Governor Malloy to Participate in China Summit
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today at a meeting with a delegation of officials from Guangdong Province that he has accepted an invitation to participate in the World Economic Forum Summit in Tianjin, China. The Governor will be joined by Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith, and will also include a stop in Connecticut's sister province, Shandong, to explore other economic opportunities.

Gov. Malloy: Conn. Receives $1.8m Grant to Hire Dislocated Workers for Sandy Recovery Efforts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded the State of Connecticut a $1.8 million grant to create about 120 temporary jobs for eligible dislocated workers to assist with clean-up and recovery efforts resulting from the impact of Storm Sandy.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Approved For Federal Emergency Highway Funding For Initial Storm Damage
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has approved the state’s request for an immediate $2 million in emergency funding for infrastructure repairs resulting from Storm Sandy. The Governor received the news during a telephone call from USDOT Secretary Ray LaHood.

Gov. Malloy: Dr. Guy Vallaro Appointed Director of State Crime Lab
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection Commissioner Reuben Bradford today announced that Dr. Guy Vallaro of Sutton, Massachusetts has been appointed to serve as Director of the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory, the state office responsible for most of the forensic testing related to criminal investigations in the State of Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy: FEMA to Operate Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers in Milford, Guilford and Stonington
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that FEMA will operate mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Milford, Guilford and Stonington over the next few days to assist homeowners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy. Previously, Governor Malloy announced the opening of DRCs in Bridgeport, Greenwich, Groton, New Haven and Old Saybrook.

Gov. Malloy: FEMA to Operate Fixed Disaster Recovery Centers in Milford and Norwalk
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that FEMA will operate additional fixed Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Milford and Norwalk to assist home owners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy. In addition, each of the other previously announced DRCs will be open longer hours on the days of their operation.
