Gov. Malloy Requests Emergency Declaration from President Obama
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has requested an emergency declaration from President Obama to assist with clean up and recovery efforts for the record storm that hit the state yesterday. If granted, the declaration would give the state access to direct federal assistance, as well as reimbursement for 75 percent of certain emergency protective measures.

Gov. Malloy Seeks Race to the Top Funds
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the U.S. Department of Education accepted Connecticut’s grant application seeking $49.99 million in Race To The Top—Early Learning Challenge Grant funding to help strengthen ongoing state initiatives in early childhood education, and to establish a comprehensive, integrated early childhood system focused on high-need children from birth to age five. Connecticut’s application was submitted on Wednesday.

Gov. Malloy: S.T.O.R.M. Irene Panel to Meet Tuesday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Team Organized for the Review of Management of Irene (S.T.O.R.M. Irene) assessment panel will next meet on Tuesday, October 25, to continue its review of the preparedness, response and recovery efforts of the state and its partners – including the utilities and municipalities – related to Tropical Storm Irene.

Gov. Malloy Warns Residents to be Prepared for Possible Power Outages this Weekend Due to Heavy Snow
With the season’s first winter storm approaching Connecticut, Governor Dannel P. Malloy warned residents to be prepared for possible power outages due to heavy snow falling on trees, many of which still haven’t lost their leaves. Because of the early onset of this storm in the season, many trees still have foliage which will become increasingly heavy with the wet snow forecast to fall.

Malloy Administration Approves $5 Million for Local "Transit-Oriented Development" Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the award of $5 million to 11 cities, towns and regional planning organizations around the state for the planning and facilitation of “transit-oriented development” (TOD) projects – work aimed at better linking communities and their transportation infrastructure, such as rail and bus stations.

Malloy will join representatives of Hartford Communities that Care, Inc. and area faith leaders for a tour of North Hartford, where they will speak with residents and discuss issues affecting them.
