Gov. Malloy: FBI Restores State Crime Lab's Access to DNA Database
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has renewed the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory’s participation in the National DNA Index System (NDIS) – an expansive computer database of DNA profiles funded by the FBI and used by federal, state and local crime laboratories across the country to assist in the identification of suspects in crimes – effective immediately.

Gov. Malloy: Commitment to Affordable Housing Most Significant in Decades
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is substantially increasing the state’s commitment to affordable housing by adding more than $330 million to bolster affordable and supportive housing across the state. The funding builds on last year’s commitment, which allocated more than $130 million to this effort, bringing the total commitment to nearly $500 million over the next ten years.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a $500,000 state loan to Lumachip Inc., a Waterford company that is a leader in the solid-state lighting industry. Lumachip Inc. will purchase and install state-of-the-art Light Emitting Diode (LED) semi-conductor equipment that will allow the company to expand manufacturing capacity and hire 20 new employees.

Gov. Malloy: Vo-Tech Schools a Crucial Component of Increasing Job Readiness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he will propose legislation to make changes to the Connecticut Technical High School System (CTHSS) that will tailor programming to the needs of employers, so that students are better prepared for real-world employment when they graduate. The plan will set high standards for students and for the schools, and would be benchmarked against national and global models in the area of vocational and technical training. The Governor will ask the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Board of Regents, Department of Labor and Department of Economic and Community Development to lead the process.

Gov. Malloy: Small Businesses are Crucial to Growing Our Economy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that five additional small businesses have qualified for grants through the state’s Small Business Express Program (EXP) to expand their businesses and create jobs.
