  On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give remarks at a ceremony in Stamford celebrating the opening of Chelsea Piers, a three-story, 417,000 square-foot sports and entertainment complex featuring two National Hockey League-size ice skating rinks, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a recreational water park, space for food vendors, basketball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, tennis courts, a 60,000 square-foot playing field, and much more.

  On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a news conference to announce the site where the CT Trees of Honor Memorial will be located. The living trees memorial will encompass a designed space that will include a shade tree planted for each of our state's military heroes who gave their lives serving in Iraq and Afghanistan during Operation New Dawn, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy has signed into law legislation that allows licensed physicians to certify an adult patient's use of medicinal marijuana after determining that the patient has a specified debilitating disease or medical condition and could benefit from its regulated treatment. The new law puts in place a number of safeguards designed to prevent potential abuse and carefully control its handling.

Malloy issued the following statement regarding today’s release of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s monthly “Labor Situation” report for May 2012, which indicates that the state’s unemployment rate for the month was 7.8 percent, compared to the national rate of 8.2 percent. The state grew 1,400 jobs in the month of May and a total of 6,100 jobs since the beginning of the year.
