Gov. Malloy and Congressional Delegation Applaud $45.8 Million in Federal Grants to Help State Reach Goal of Ending Homelessness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation today are applauding the release of $45.8 million in federal grants that will be used towards helping the State of Connecticut reach its goal of ending homelessness. The grants were received through the U.S. Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care initiative, which provides critically needed support to local programs on the frontlines that serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Gov. Malloy and Coastal Governors Tell Trump Administration No to Offshore Drilling
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the governors of Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Virginia have written a letter to Secretary Ryan Zinke of the U.S. Department of the Interior expressing their joint opposition to offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean as the Trump administration has proposed, and are urging for an exemption to be granted to their states similar to the one the administration is making for the State of Florida.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Vicki Veltri to Lead State’s Office of Health Strategy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is appointing Victoria Veltri of Colchester to serve as Executive Director of the state’s Office of Health Strategy, a new state office created through the consolidation of several existing resources as part of the bipartisan state budget that was adopted in October. The office, which begins operations on February 1, will be responsible for implementing data-driven strategies that promote equal access to healthcare, improve the value of healthcare, contain costs, and ensure better healthcare systems for Connecticut residents.

Malloy this afternoon announced that state offices will open on time tomorrow – Friday, January 5, 2018 – following clean-up from the major winter storm that impacted the state today. Gov. Malloy Announces Opportunities for Local Communities to Remediate and Revitalize Clusters of Blighted Properties
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting applications for a second round of grant funding under a recently created state grant program that is designed to help local entities create plans for remediating and redeveloping clusters of blighted properties – also known as “brownfields” – within a community.
