Gov. Malloy Announces Brian Durand to Serve as Chief of Staff Starting September 28
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Brian Durand, who currently serves in his office as Deputy Chief of Staff, will replace outgoing Chief of Staff Mark Ojakian beginning Monday, September 28, 2015. Durand has served as the Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff since 2012 and previously worked at the Office of Policy and Management.

Gov. Malloy, Senator Blumenthal, Senator Murphy and Representative Himes Announce $10 Million Federal Tiger Award for New Barnum Station in Bridgeport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and Congressman Jim Himes (D-4) today announced $10 million in federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funds for the construction of Barnum Station, a new commuter rail station that would serve Metro-North on the east side of Bridgeport.

Gov. Malloy: Open Space Grants Will Preserve Nearly 950 Acres of Land Across Connecticut

Gov. Malloy: State’s Economy Will Benefit Dramatically from Widening Connecticut’s Interstate Highways
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a new analysis conducted by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) shows significant economic benefits to the state's economy by widening Connecticut's interstate highways. By adding travel lanes in both directions on I-95 border-to-border from Greenwich to North Stonington, as well as on I-84 between Waterbury and Danbury, Connecticut will see economic benefits of nearly $40 billion - about four times the cost of both projects.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives Millions in ‘Second Chance Act’ Grants for Crime Reduction Initiatives
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded over $2.3 million in grants from the United States Department of Justice under the federal Second Chance Act that will help bolster one of the state's criminal justice efforts. The grants, awarded to both the Department of Corrections, the City of New Haven, and a variety of non-profit organizations, will support a wide range of efforts to reduce recidivism and help turn offenders into productive members of society.

Gov. Malloy Encourages Residents to Take Necessary Precautions for Possible Hurricane Conditions Over Next Several Days
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that with Hurricane Joaquin currently forecast to impact the east coast over the next several days, he is asking Connecticut residents to closely monitor the storm's path and be prepared for severe weather conditions. The Governor continues to work with state emergency management officials to monitor the storm and make preparations for necessary state response.

Gov. Malloy Calls for Bipartisan Meetings on State Budget
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is calling for bipartisan meetings on the state budget, with the aim of addressing the short-term budget shortfall while also improving Connecticut's long-term budget outlook and economic competitiveness. With Wall Street on a significant, unpredicted downturn, further tough decisions need to be made. As such, the Governor is inviting leaders of both parties into bipartisan talks that - if successful - could lead to a special session on the budget later this year.
