Gov. Malloy: State Announces Allocation Plan to Assist Hurricane Irma and Maria Evacuees With Housing
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) has developed an allocation plan utilizing a $600,000 appropriation that was included in the recently adopted bipartisan state budget adjustment bill, which was adopted by near-unanimous votes in both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly, for the purpose of ensuring housing assistance for evacuees from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin islands following the devastation of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria last year.

Gov. Malloy Statement on June Employment Numbers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement on the monthly Labor Situation Report, which shows that 6,100 jobs were created in June and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent. In addition, May’s numbers were revised up by 2,000 to a total of 6,100 new jobs.

Gov. Malloy Announces Seven Stars Cloud Group Establishing Global Headquarters for Technology and Innovation in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Seven Stars Cloud Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSC) will be establishing its global headquarters for technology and innovation in Connecticut, transforming UConn’s former campus in West Hartford into a thriving center for research, training, and business development. The $283 million project, called Chain Valley, is expected to create 330 jobs over the next five years.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut’s Historic Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine to Re-Open to the Public on July 14
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine, a national historic landmark and state archaeological preserve, will re-open to the public this Saturday, July 14 after being closed since 2009 for structural repairs.

Gov. Malloy: KPMG to Add 110 New Jobs in Stamford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, plans to add 110 jobs over the next five years in a new Stamford office. The company recently signed a long-term lease and plans to renovate space in the former UBS building at 677 Washington Boulevard, which it expects to occupy next spring.

Gov. Malloy: State and Community Organizations Seek Volunteers for Annual Homelessness Census
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne M. Klein, and Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) Executive Director Lisa Tepper Bates are encouraging Connecticut residents to volunteer for the annual point-in-time and youth count of homeless individuals in the state starting next week. The annual counts are held every January and help provide critical data necessary evaluate the state’s progress when it comes to preventing and ending homelessness.

As of June 2017, the MIF has assisted nearly 900 companies and invested over $43.7 million to help accelerate growth, cultivate talent and boost investments in innovation.
