• 8/30/2018 Gov. Malloy Appeals Denial of Federal Assistance on Behalf of Individuals Impacted by May’s Tornadoes and Severe Storms

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has filed an appeal with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in connection with the May 15 tornadoes and storms that heavily impacted parts of Connecticut, requesting that the denial of individual assistance for homeowners in New Haven and Fairfield Counties be reversed. The Governor also filed an appeal over the denial of public assistance and individual assistance on behalf of the towns of Bridgewater, New Milford, and Roxbury, all of which are located in Litchfield County and sustained significant damage from the storms.

• 8/28/2018 Gov. Malloy Advises Connecticut Residents to Prepare for Extreme Heat Over the Next Two Days

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy is advising Connecticut residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions ahead of the high temperature conditions that are expected to impact the state through Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Hartford County for Tuesday and Heat Advisories for the rest of the state for Tuesday and Wednesday.

• 8/13/2018 Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives $10M Federal Grant to Increase Access to Care for Individuals With Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is receiving a $10 million federal grant that will be used to increase access to integrated care for individuals with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. Funding will also be used to address the opioid crisis in the state by increasing access to medication-assisted treatment. The grant has been awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).

• 8/23/2018 Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of Statewide Text-to-911 Capability

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has launched a new Text-to-911 capability as part of the state’s new Next Generation 9-1-1 Emergency Telecommunications System. Text-to-911 provides residents with the ability to send a text message to 9-1-1 from a handheld device in emergency situations when it is either unsafe or they are unable to place a voice call. The system, which is available statewide, is now in effect.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately in remembrance of Senator John McCain of Arizona, who passed away on Saturday evening. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the date of his funeral, which has yet to be announced.

Chapman of Windsor Locks is a hero who represents the best of Connecticut and the United States. He is being posthumously awarded with the Medal of Honor at a ceremony this afternoon in the White House for the actions he took in 2002 while serving in Afghanistan that saved the lives of his teammates at the sacrifice of his own.

• 8/2/2018 Gov. Malloy and Public Health Officials Advise Residents of Increased West Nile Virus Activity This Season

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and state public health officials are advising Connecticut residents to be aware of a rapid build-up of West Nile virus (WNV) activity within the state as recent tests show that infected mosquitoes are rising at levels higher than normal for this time of year. The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) has detected WNV-infected mosquitoes in 19 municipalities this year, including Bethany, Bridgeport, Darien, East Haven, Easton, Franklin, Greenwich, Hartford, Madison, Manchester, Meriden, New Canaan, New Haven, Stamford, Stratford, Waterbury, Waterford, West Haven, and Weston.

• 8/31/2018 Labor Day Charts: Private Sector Job Growth Under Gov. Malloy Strongest in Recent Memory

  The Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released a series of charts showing that private-sector job growth under Governor Malloy has significantly exceeded that of any of his predecessors, while the size and scope of government has shrunk. Indeed, since the Governor took office in January 2011, the number of private sector jobs in Connecticut has increased by over 94,000 – a nearly 7 percent increase – while at the same time the government sector has decreased by nearly 6.5 percent.

• 12/13/2018 Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Remain at Half-Staff Friday for the Anniversary of the Tragedy in Sandy Hook

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and State of Connecticut flags to remain flying at half-staff on Friday, December 14, 2018, in remembrance of the 20 children and 6 adults who were killed six years ago in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Flags are also currently flying at half-staff for a 30-day period in honor of President George H.W. Bush, who passed away on November 30. They should remain lowered throughout the duration of this period.
