Gov. Malloy Announces Bridgeport Train Station Renovations and Upgrades Complete
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that a $10 million renovation and upgrade project at the Bridgeport railroad station has been completed and the new amenities, which were designed to provide commuters with enhanced services, are now in use, including real-time electronic signage of arrivals and departures, extended canopies, better lighting, and a resurfaced platform.

Gov. Malloy and Conn. Airport Authority Announce Launch of Norwegian Air International Operations at Bradley International Airport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, officials from the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA), and representatives from Norwegian Air today announced that Norwegian Air International, a low-cost carrier and Norwegian Air’s Irish subsidiary, will soon commence operations at Bradley International Airport. Beginning in June, 17, 2017, the airline will offer direct, nonstop service from Bradley International Airport to Edinburgh, Scotland, at its trademark low cost fares.

Gov. Malloy, Connecticut Airport Authority Announce Launch of Nonstop Service Between Bradley International Airport and San Francisco with United Airlines
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) and United Airlines today announced the debut of new, seasonal nonstop United Airlines service between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Beginning June 8, 2017 and running through September 5, the flight offers business commuters and tourists another option when traveling to the Greater Hartford area.

Gov. Malloy Introduces Legislation Reforming the Pretrial Justice System to Help Break the Cycle of Crime and Poverty
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has submitted a legislative proposal to the Connecticut General Assembly that will reform the state’s current methods of detention for people who have only been arrested, but not convicted of any crimes, in order to continue efforts to further reduce the state’s historically low crime rate. The proposed reforms target adults accused of committing nonviolent misdemeanors who are unable to afford bail and – due to no other available options – languish in jail for potentially extended periods of time. In turn, this situation often creates a deteriorating condition where they are unable to earn a paycheck to support themselves and their families, intensifying their economic instability and potentially increasing their inability to lead productive lives within the community.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Cyient, Inc., a multi-faceted aerospace engineering design and manufacturing firm is expanding its operations in East Hartford. Currently employing 456 full time workers in Connecticut, the company plans to add 85 full-time jobs over the next three years.

Malloy Administration Issues Guidance to Law Enforcement and School Districts Regarding Immigration Matters
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the commissioners of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Correction, and the State Department of Education today announced that – in response to increasing concerns regarding the impact that a recent presidential executive order on immigration matters and corresponding implementation memos from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will have on the operations of local law enforcement and school districts – they are sending recommendations to every school superintendent and police chief in the state outlining suggested protocols to help these jurisdictions inform local decision making and communication efforts with families in their respective communities.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dramatic Increase in Unused Prescription Drugs Collected at Drop Boxes During 2016
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut saw a dramatic increase in the amount of unused prescription medications that residents dropped off at collection boxes during 2016, with the state collecting a total of 33,803 pounds worth of various medications throughout the year. That amounts to a 43 percent increase compared to the amount that residents dropped off in 2015, when 23,651 pounds of unused drugs were collected by the state.
