Gov. Malloy Meets with Organizations to Discuss Impact Budget Situation is Having on Affordable Housing

Malloy today met with a group of nonprofit organizations from across the state to discuss the impact that the current budget impasse is having on those receiving housing assistance. Gov. Malloy Announces Indeed to Significantly Expand Presence in Connecticut, Increase Stamford Workforce to Over 1,200 Employees
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and executives from Indeed today announced that the internet company has plans to significantly increase its presence in Connecticut by investing $26.5 million to expand its Stamford offices, where its workforce already exceeds 700 employees. The expansion project will see the creation of as many as 500 new jobs in the coming years, bringing the company’s Connecticut job presence to over 1,200 employees.

Gov. Malloy Announces I-95 Bridge Replacement Project Connecting New Haven and West Haven is Three Months Ahead of Schedule
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner Jim Redeker today announced that as a result of innovative construction techniques, CTDOT has been able to shave off three months from the construction schedule for the new, replacement bridge that is being built over the West River along I-95 northbound and southbound, which connects New Haven and West Haven. The bridge carries about 135,000 vehicles per day.

Gov. Malloy Vetoes Legislation Aimed at Weakening Affordable Housing Standards
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has vetoed legislation aimed at weakening affordable housing standards in the state, saying that the guidelines are necessary for spurring the creation of affordable homes in communities with good schools, jobs, transit access, and vital services. At a time when the number of affordable housing units in the state has grown larger during the past several years than it has over the last several decades, state laws should be encouraging this continued growth, not moving in the opposite direction, he explained.

Gov. Malloy Receives Report on the State’s Financial Support to Municipalities

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of U.S. Navy Petty Officer Dustin Doyon
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff beginning immediately in honor of U.S. Navy Electronics Technician 3rd Class Dustin Louis Doyon, 26, of Suffield, who was among those who died onboard the U.S.S. John S. McCain when it collided with a merchant vessel near Singapore.
