Gov. Malloy Announces TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts Selected as Service Provider for the Hartford Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a joint venture of TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts has been selected as the service provider that will operate and manage service on the CTrail Hartford Line – the passenger rail service currently under construction that will provide more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. The rail line is anticipated to launch in May 2018.

Gov. Malloy Announces Special Election to Fill Vacancy for Probate Judge in New Haven to be Held this Fall
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is ordering a special election to fill the position of Probate Judge for the New Haven Probate District to be held on the same date of the next general election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Gov. Malloy Announces 'Q Bridge' to be Lit Red, White, and Blue for Independence Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut will illuminate the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven – informally known by residents as the Q Bridge – in red, white, and blue lights on the evenings of Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, in observation of Independence Day. Beacons capable of projecting light nearly six miles into the clear night sky will be lit until 1:00 a.m. during those nights. In addition, the Governor is directing Connecticut residents to visit the state’s tourism website at www.CTvisit.com, where they can find a schedule of fireworks shows that are scheduled to take place across the state throughout the coming days. Dozens of towns and cities in Connecticut have scheduled fireworks displays.

Gov. Malloy Announces $11.5 Million in Small Cities Grants Awarded to 20 Municipalities to Enhance Housing Availability, Increase Economic Development
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that $11.5 million is being awarded to 20 municipalities in Connecticut to provide upgrades and improvements to the state’s small town infrastructure. Awarded under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities program, which is administered by DOH with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the grants are awarded to small towns that have a population below 50,000 residents and will advance projects that develop and preserve affordable housing, provide services to the most vulnerable residents in their communities, and also create and retain jobs.

Gov. Malloy: Trump Administration, Department of Justice Going Out of its Way to Divide Americans and Legalize Discrimination
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is criticizing an amicus brief filed in federal court by the Trump administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday, whereby the administration has needlessly intervened in a case currently being heard in the Second Circuit, arguing that employers should be allowed to fire, deny promotion to, and generally discriminate against their employees just for being gay. The brief is particularly unusual because the DOJ was never asked to weigh in on this particular case, which was filed by a worker who said he was being discriminated against by his employer based solely on his sexual orientation, and went out of its way to intervene against the workplace rights of LGBT Americans.
