  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are applauding the final legislative approval today of an agreement with the state employee unions on contract concessions that will save the state’s taxpayers approximately $24 billion over the next twenty years. With today’s vote by the State Senate to approve the agreement, which was ratified in the House of Representatives last week, the concession package can now begin to take effect and start producing savings, including $1.57 billion in the current biennium.

Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Rob Klee are applauding an announcement by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt that he is reversing course on his decision to postpone the implementation of the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by one year – a move that the Connecticut officials had criticized, saying that the delay would put Connecticut at an economic disadvantage against states that ignore critical air quality issues while also prolonging the risk of illness for thousands of residents in the State.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and state emergency management officials are reminding Connecticut residents that as the height of the Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches, people should take needed steps to prepare for any type of severe weather that may impact the state. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the principle threat period for Connecticut occurring between mid-August and mid-October.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that they are joining a coalition of leaders from across the country – governors, mayors, city and state elected officials, law enforcement professionals, faith and civic leaders – onto a new “We Are With Dreamers” statement, which calls on President Trump to preserve the successful Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and for Congress to pass a standalone version of the bipartisan Dream Act. To date, over 1,860 leaders have signed onto the statement.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has deployed a C-130H cargo plane and eight Airmen from the 103rd Airlift Wing of the Connecticut National Guard to help with Hurricane Harvey response and recovery efforts in Texas. The unit, which departed from the Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby this afternoon, includes C-130H pilots, crewmembers, loadmasters, and maintainers.
