Gov. Malloy, Sen. Bye & Rep. Wadsworth Announce State Funding for Tunxis Community College
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, State Senator Beth Bye (D-West Hartford) and State Representative Bill Wadsworth (R-Farmington) today announced that the State Bond Commission is expected to approve funding for upgrades to Tunxis Community College in Farmington at its meeting on Friday.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today named six of his nine appointments to the Board of Regents for Higher Education, which oversees the four regional state universities, the community college system and Charter Oak State College.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has extended the Air Quality Alert due to elevated concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution across southern Connecticut for Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Continues Jobs Tour, Visits Women’s Business Development Council and FactSet Research Systems
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Wednesday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with members of the Women’s Business Development Council in Stamford for a roundtable discussion. The WBDC addresses the growing need for entrepreneurial training and services for women, offering programs throughout various areas of the state in business development/management, financial education and personal effectiveness. Representatives from over 30 companies and organizations are anticipated at the meeting.

Gov. Malloy Announces Award of Nearly $10 Million in Stem Cell Research Funds
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the award of $9.8 million in stem cell research funds to twenty Connecticut–based researchers. The awards were given by the State of Connecticut Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee at its Tuesday grant review meeting in Farmington.

Governor Malloy Announces TicketNetwork is Second "First Five" Company
Governor Malloy announced today at the grand opening of TicketNetwork’s facility in South Windsor that the company is the second to take advantage of the state’s new “First Five” program. The company will retain 292 jobs and create a minimum of 200 new full-time jobs within two years, and possibly up to 600 over the next ten years.

Governor Malloy Continues Investment in Rail Through Purchase of 25 Additional M-8 Cars for New Haven Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced plans to purchase 25 more M-8 rail cars – adding to the 380 already on order – for use on the New Haven Line along the coastline in southwestern Connecticut, often cited as the busiest in the nation with 120,000 riders a day between New Haven and New York City.

Monday: Gov. Malloy on Jobs Tour Visits Specialized Technology Resources in Somers
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Monday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit with executives and staff of Specialized Technology Resources, Inc. in Somers. STR, which employs 121 people at its Somers and Enfield facilities, engineers and manufactures the most stable photovoltaic adhesive encapsulants in the photovoltaic-solar module business, formulating new technologies that generate electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity. The visit will allow Governor Malloy and the company’s executives an opportunity to discuss development strategy and overall business outlook.

Monday: Gov. Malloy on Jobs Tour Visits New England Assistive Technology Center at Oak Hill
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Monday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the staff of the New England Assistive Technology Center at Oak Hill in Hartford. Oak Hill is a private non-profit corporation that is the largest private provider of services to people with disabilities in Connecticut. They have over 1,400 employees throughout the state and provide community based residential care, day programs, assistive technology, supported work, training to work with people with disabilities, an equipment restoration center, and a fully licensed school and pre-school for children with disabilities.

On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a media availability at the conclusion of the scheduled meeting of the State Bond Commission. Items included in the meeting’s agenda invest in the revitalization of Connecticut’s infrastructure, create or maintain hundreds of construction-related jobs, and enhance future economic growth in the state.
