Gov. Malloy Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Decision to Leave Assault Weapon and Large-Capacity Magazine Law Intact
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's today decision to not take up a challenge to a 2013 law passed in Highland Park, Illinois that bans the sale, purchase, or possession of semi-automatic weapons that can hold more than ten rounds in a single ammunition clip or magazine.

Gov. Malloy Lifts Ban on State-Funded Travel to Indiana
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that, following the passage of an amended religious freedom recognition act, he would lift the ban on state-funded travel between Connecticut and Indiana. The adjusted legislation now provides protections to LGBTQ individuals, and as such, falls outside the scope of the Executive Order issued earlier this week.

Gov. Malloy Announces Victory Parade and Rally Honoring UConn Women's Basketball to be Held This Sunday, April 12 in Hartford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Hartford Business Improvement District, the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut will host a victory parade and rally in downtown Hartford on Sunday, April 12, 2015 to congratulate the UConn Women's Basketball team for winning the 2015 NCAA Basketball National Championship.

Gov. Malloy: State Receives Emergency Management Accreditation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that for the first time, the State of Connecticut has received full accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). EMAP is a set of 64 standards by which programs that apply for accreditation are evaluated. The state's emergency management program met all 64 standards.

Gov. Malloy Selects Dr. Dianna Wentzell as Commissioner of the Department of Education
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is selecting Dr. Dianna R. Wentzell to serve as Commissioner of the State Department of Education. Dr. Wentzell, a former teacher with over 25 years of experience as an educator in Connecticut, has been serving as the department's Interim Commissioner since January.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed an executive order directing the establishment of a new council that will ensure the State of Connecticut is on a path to meet its greenhouse gas emissions goals by 2050 and remains a national leader in addressing climate change.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives $700k to Combat Veteran Homelessness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded Connecticut nearly $700,000 in federal funding to support Connecticut's efforts to help end veteran homelessness.
