Gov. Malloy Asks Metro-North to Provide Action Plan, Submit Monthly Reports on Equipment and Maintenance Actions
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today asked Metro-North Railroad to provide an action plan addressing safety issues on its system following the tragic train derailment Sunday morning in the Bronx. In addition, Governor Malloy has asked that the report from the inspection of the track that followed the Bridgeport derailment be provided immediately, as well as monthly reports of all track, bridge, signal, power, equipment inspection and maintenance action.

Gov. Malloy: Drivers Should Limit Travel, Use Caution During First Significant Snowstorm of the Season
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today urged residents to avoid travel during the first significant snowstorm of the season. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches for most of the state from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday morning.

Gov. Malloy: Law Gives Consumers the Right to Know What's in Their Food
Joined by lawmakers and advocates, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today held a ceremonial bill signing in Fairfield to commemorate final passage of legislation, Public Act 13-183, which requires that certain foods intended for human consumption that are entirely or partially genetically engineered to be labeled as such.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman today directed U.S. and Connecticut flags to half-staff on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in honor of the 20 children and six adults who were killed on December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Gov. Malloy: Economic, Scientific Collaboration With Israel Will Strengthen Conneticut's Global Competitiveness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today at the MetroHartford Alliance's "Rising Star Breakfast" that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Israel Tech Transfer Organization (ITTN) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the first step in laying the foundation for better and more productive economic and research collaborations between Connecticut and Israeli businesses, research institutions and universities.

Gov. Malloy Issues Executive Order to Increase Transparency on Economic Development Incentives
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by State Comptroller Kevin Lembo and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, today signed Executive Order (EO) No. 38 to make information regarding certain economic assistance and tax credits used to recruit or retain businesses more accessible to Connecticut residents.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today issued the following statement regarding the release of the Connecticut Department of Labor's "Labor Situation" report for the month of November 2013. The monthly report announced that Connecticut's unemployment rate decreased for the third consecutive month to 7.6 percent.
