Gov. Malloy: Per Executive Order One, OPM Secretary Barnes Submits GAAP Conversion Plan to Legislature
When signing Executive Order One on his first day in office, Governor Dannel P. Malloy mandated that the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management prepare a plan to bring Connecticut’s budget in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as prescribed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Major Raymond G. Estelle II, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Gov. Malloy: State Flag on Capitol Building to Fly at Half Staff on Saturday for Funeral of Windsor Firefighter
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has ordered the flag of the State of Connecticut on the State Capitol building to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, April 23, in honor of Windsor Volunteer Firefighter Robert Watts, who died in the line of duty after responding to an emergency call Monday.

Gov. Malloy: State Prepared for Temporary Federal Government Shutdown
To ensure that Connecticut will be prepared in case the Federal Government shuts down, Governor Malloy last week requested that all Executive Branch department heads submit an initial assessment of potential impacts of a shutdown on each agency’s programs, services, operations and employees.

Gov. Malloy Urges Immigration Officials to Defer Deportation Order for Mariano Cardoso
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today wrote to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship & Immigration Services, asking them to grant deferred action on the enforcement of an order of deportation for Mariano Cardoso. Cardoso is the subject of a deportation order even though he has been living in the United States since he was twenty-two months old after his parents brought him here from Mexico illegally, eventually settling in New Britain. Cardoso is a month away from earning his engineering degree from Capitol Community College in Hartford.

Gov. Malloy: Victory Parade Honoring the UConn Men's Basketball Team Set for Sunday, April 17 in Hartford

Malloy today announced that the Hartford Business Improvement District will host a victory parade and rally on Sunday, April 17, to congratulate and honor the University of Connecticut Men’s Basketball Team for winning the National Championship Game of the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Governor Malloy: $1 Million Federal Grant to Improve Patient Care in Medicaid, Medicare
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today welcomed a $1 million federal grant to help Connecticut pioneer a coordinated system of care for elders and adults with disabilities covered by both Medicaid and Medicare – a group that now consumes the highest amount of taxpayer health care dollars.

Governor Malloy on Navy Announcement of $1.2 Billion to Electric Boat for Second Submarine Production
Governor Dannel P. Malloy this evening released the following statement in response to the U.S. Navy announcement that it has awarded $1.2 billion for the production of a second submarine by Electric Boat in FY 2011. In February, Governor Malloy sent letters to the Chairs and the Ranking Members of Congress’ Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense urging the full funding of two Virginia Class submarines.

Tuesday: Governor Malloy Wraps Up Town Hall Meetings in Middletown
On Tuesday evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a Town Hall Meeting in Middletown – the final stop in his current series of seventeen constituent meetings that has taken him from one end of the state to the other. The seventeen meetings, which began February 21 in Bridgeport, have given the Governor an opportunity to conduct an open dialogue with the residents of Connecticut on the pressing economic issues facing our state.

Wednesday: Governor Malloy Attends UConn School of Nursing Groundbreaking- Receives Award at Boston College
On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join officials from the University of Connecticut at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Widmer Wing building addition at the UConn School of Nursing in Storrs. The new wing will be home to the school’s enrollment and admission services, classrooms, and clinical simulation laboratories.
