Governor Malloy Announces Connecticut Awarded $33 Million to Help Unemployed Homeowners Facing Threat of Foreclosure
Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut will receive $33 million in aid from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program to assist homeowners facing foreclosure. Applications for this program are now being accepted by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA). Malloy Administration, Chairman Willis Announce Higher Ed Consolidation Agreement
Mark Ojakian, Deputy Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management and Higher Education Chairman Roberta B. Willis announced an agreement concerning Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s proposal to consolidate the state’s community colleges, the Connecticut State University system and Charter Oak College to flatten administration and direct more money to students and classroom instruction. The deal had been in the works since last week, and details were finalized last night.

Malloy will talk to students at Kids’ Speak, an event sponsored by the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, that brings together students from across the state to discuss topics related to civil and human rights, including diversity, anti-bullying efforts, and equal protection.

On Sunday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will march in the UConn Men’s Basketball Team parade in Hartford, which will be followed by a victory rally outside of the State Capitol building.

Saturday: Governor Malloy Attends East Coast Greenway Trail Council and Board Meeting in Simsbury
On Saturday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will be a guest speaker during the afternoon session of the East Coast Greenway Trail Council and Board meeting in Simsbury. Governor Malloy has been a proponent of the Greenway since he was Mayor of Stamford, advocating for the completion of Connecticut’s 196-mile portion of the 3,000-mile trail, which when complete will extend the length of the East Coast from Canada to Florida.

Sunday: Governor Malloy Attends News Conference for Red Cross Workers in New Britain, Attends Litchfield Hills Film Festival Showing
On Sunday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a news conference in New Britain being hosted by Red Cross blood collection workers who have been working without a contract for two years. Later Sunday afternoon, Governor Malloy will attend the Litchfield Hills Film Festival showing of "In a Town This Size," a documentary film about an Oklahoma town and its long-suppressed tragedy of childhood sexual abuse. A discussion with the filmmaker, Patrick V. Brown, will follow.

Friday: Governor Malloy Administers Oaths of Office to Judges Espinosa and Harper
On Friday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will administer the oaths of office in two separate ceremonies to the Honorable Carmen Espinosa of Southington, who was recently confirmed to be a Judge of the Appellate Court, and the Honorable Lubbie Harper, Jr. of North Haven, who was recently confirmed to be a Justice of the Supreme Court.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dual-Track Decision on Busway and Bristol-Waterbury Commuter Rail Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his decision regarding the fate of the New Britain-Hartford Bus Rapid Transit project – better known as the “Busway” – and the Bristol/Waterbury commuter rail line. After meeting with advocates and opponents of the Busway, Governor Malloy has decided to aggressively pursue construction of the Busway while launching a parallel and equally aggressive initiative to plan for the Bristol/Waterbury commuter line. This decision will create new jobs now, as the Busway project is “ready to go,” while continuing to address the needs of commuters on the Bristol/Waterbury rail line. In addition, Governor Malloy’s decision maximizes the availability of federal funding now and going forward.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Submits Robust Application for $227 Million of Florida-s Declined Rail Money
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the state has submitted a robust application for $227 million in federal funding to complete the third phase of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) high-speed intercity passenger rail project. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) submitted its application Monday to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for the $227 million, which is available because the State of Florida recently decided to reject some $2.4 billion in high-speed rail money because it did not want to commit to the state matching funds.

Gov. Malloy: Navy Awards $2.4 Million Contract for Sub Base Boiler Project to Local Contractor
