Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman on Record Low Homelessness in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements regarding an annual point-in-time count of homelessness in the state that was released today by the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness. The report shows that homelessness in Connecticut is down nearly four percent compared to 2015, and has declined 13 percent since 2007. With this new drop, homelessness rates have dropped to a new record low.

Gov. Malloy Signs Executive Order No. 54
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed Executive Order No. 54 to complement Public Act 16-64, a bill he signed this afternoon. The Executive Order clarifies a phrase in the bill, specifically that a "reasonable fee" for any "recording for which the recording fee is not otherwise prescribed by law" shall be construed to mean no more than twenty dollars and that the officers shall receive reimbursement for mileage traveled.

Data Release: Daily Statistics of Pretrial Inmates Accused of Misdemeanors, 5/27/16
Today, the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy released May 27, 2016 numbers for those accused of misdemeanor crimes who are currently in jail awaiting trial. Often, many of those pre-trial detainees are in prison because they cannot come up with even a few hundred dollars in bail.

Gov. Malloy: New FBI Data Shows Connecticut Saw Second Largest Violent Crime Drop in the Nation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement after new 2015 crime numbers released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) showed that Connecticut had the second largest drop in violent crime across the nation over the previous year. The 8.5 percent drop in violent crime in 2015 builds upon a significant drop violent crime in 2014 and 2013. Connecticut's violent crime rate is now at the lowest levels since 1974, with the overall crime rate the lowest since 1967.

Gov. Malloy: Sikorsky Agreement Will Benefit Connecticut Suppliers and Small Businesses
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today highlighted part of the agreement that Lockheed Martin reached with the state that - in addition to committing to keep Sikorsky Aircraft and approximately 8,000 jobs in Connecticut through at least 2032 - will see the company's annual spending with in-state Connecticut suppliers nearly double. Currently, Sikorsky spends about $350 million per year with local suppliers, which are located throughout all regions of the state.
