• 9/25/2016 Gov. Malloy Announces State Grants to Assist Sixteen Small Towns with Capital Improvement Projects

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that sixteen towns throughout Connecticut will receive funding under the latest round of the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), which assists smaller communities with infrastructure and capital improvement projects. The nearly $6 million in grants announced today are the second round of grants announced this year. An earlier round of STEAP 2016 grants was announced in February.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today highlighted the release of new statistics from the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management's Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division, which show that the state has experienced a 54 percent decline over the last seven years in the number of inmates within its prison population who are aged 18 to 21. Additionally, the number of arrests of persons in the same age group has decreased by 53 percent over a similar time period - a drop that corresponds to recent juvenile justice reforms the state implemented during the last several years.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed writs designating that a special election to fill a vacancy in the State House of Representatives serving the 90th Assembly District, which covers portions of Cheshire and Wallingford, will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

• 9/19/2016 Gov. Malloy and Lockheed Martin Reach Deal to Keep Sikorsky Headquarters and Jobs in Connecticut

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lockheed Martin, a global leader in security and aerospace, announced today that they have reached an agreement, subject to legislative and union approval, to retain and grow approximately 8,000 jobs at Sikorsky Aircraft until 2032, keep the Sikorsky headquarters here in Connecticut, and increase investments in in-state suppliers. Sikorsky, which has been in Connecticut for more than 85 years, was purchased by Lockheed Martin from United Technologies in November 2015.

Malloy today applauded an announcement from the White House that the Eugene O'Neill Memorial Theater Center in Waterford will be awarded the prestigious 2015 National Medal of Arts for its extensive contributions to American theater. President Barack Obama will present the medal during a White House ceremony on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
