Gov. Malloy Announces Site Selection for Connecticut’s Amazon HQ2 Bid
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today announced that the State of Connecticut has chosen two sites for its proposal to Amazon for the company’s second headquarters – the Hartford and Stamford regions. Last month, Amazon announced that it was seeking a site for a second headquarters – known as “Amazon HQ2” – in North America, which will create tens of thousands of additional jobs and bring billions in investment.

Gov. Malloy and Charter Communications Announce Charter’s Plan to Build New Headquarters, Add Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Charter Communications, Inc., a Fortune 100 company and the second-largest cable operator in the United States, today announced the company’s plans to build a 500,000 square foot, 15-story headquarters at 406 Washington Boulevard in Stamford. Following its commitment to create and retain 400 jobs under the state’s First Five Program in 2012, Charter has committed to create an additional 1,100 new corporate headquarters jobs and has agreed to a total of $100 million in planned capital expenditures in Connecticut over the next several years.

Connecticut Joins Multistate Lawsuit Defending Affordable Care Act
Connecticut today joined with 17 other states and the District of Columbia in filing a lawsuit against the Trump Administration's decision to abruptly stop making healthcare cost-sharing reduction (CSR) subsidy payments required by the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) – a move that will put health coverage for more than six million Americans at risk while increasing costs, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

Gov. Malloy Releases New, ‘Bare-Bones’ Budget Proposal
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released his fourth balanced budget proposal for the FY18-FY19 biennium. Built off the administration’s last compromise budget (House Bill 7501, as amended by Senate Amendment A), this new budget eliminates numerous tax increases, cuts additional spending, and pares down implementer language to focus only on structural changes and language that is actually necessary to implement the biennial budget.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov Wyman Announce Impact of Senate Republican Version of Trumpcare on Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that according to a new analysis of the impact on Connecticut of the Better Care Reconciliation Act – the Senate Republican version of Trumpcare – healthcare coverage for tens-of-thousands of state residents could be threatened, and as much as $2.9 billion in annual costs would be added to the state at full implementation in 2026.

Gov. Malloy Announces UConn Board Chairman Larry McHugh to Depart Position
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Lawrence D. McHugh, Chairman of the UConn Board of Trustees, will not serve another term after his current six-year term ends this summer. At the request of Governor Malloy, McHugh has agreed to continue serving in the role until a successor is nominated.
