Malloy and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today announced that the State of Connecticut has chosen two sites for its proposal to Amazon for the company’s second headquarters – the Hartford and Stamford regions. Last month, Amazon announced that it was seeking a site for a second headquarters – known as “Amazon HQ2” – in North America, which will create tens of thousands of additional jobs and bring billions in investment.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Charter Communications, Inc., a Fortune 100 company and the second-largest cable operator in the United States, today announced the company’s plans to build a 500,000 square foot, 15-story headquarters at 406 Washington Boulevard in Stamford. Following its commitment to create and retain 400 jobs under the state’s First Five Program in 2012, Charter has committed to create an additional 1,100 new corporate headquarters jobs and has agreed to a total of $100 million in planned capital expenditures in Connecticut over the next several years.

Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that according to a new analysis of the impact on Connecticut of the Better Care Reconciliation Act – the Senate Republican version of Trumpcare – healthcare coverage for tens-of-thousands of state residents could be threatened, and as much as $2.9 billion in annual costs would be added to the state at full implementation in 2026.
