Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation Authorizing Manufacturers to Test Fully Autonomous Vehicles in Connecticut

Malloy today announced that he has signed into law legislation that will create a pilot program allowing manufacturers and fleet service providers to test fully autonomous vehicles in Connecticut. Gov. Malloy Appoints Justice McDonald to Serve as Chairman of the State’s Criminal Justice Commission
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed Supreme Court Justice Andrew J. McDonald to serve as chairman of the Connecticut Criminal Justice Commission, the group constitutionally charged with appointing all state prosecutors within the Division of Criminal Justice. He will fill the role most recently held by Supreme Court Justice Richard N. Palmer, who submitted a letter to the Governor on Tuesday resigning as its chairman. Justice McDonald will serve in the position until the legislature convenes again in February 2018, when a nomination will be put before the General Assembly for its consideration.

Malloy and state emergency management officials are reminding Connecticut residents that as the first day of the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1, it is always important to have preparations in place should any severe weather potentially impact the region. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the principal threat period for Connecticut occurring from mid-August to mid-October.

Gov. Malloy: Actuarial Analysis Affirms Billions in Taxpayer Dollars Will be Saved by Adopting Framework Reached With State Employee Unions
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released a detailed savings analysis of the framework that his administration reached last month with the state’s employee unions, including independent actuarial analysis of its pension and healthcare provisions. The materials affirm that the proposed structural reforms to pension and benefit costs will result in billions in savings to the state, obtaining significant annual savings for taxpayers over each of the next twenty years. The analysis found the plan produces cumulative savings of $1.569 billion over fiscal years 2017 and 2018, nearly $5 billion in the first five years, and over $24 billion in savings over the next twenty years.
